The Centralia Massacre, also known as the Armistice Day Riot, was a violent incident between IWW and American Legion members in Centralia, Washington on this day in 1919, during a parade celebrating the first anniversary of Armistice Day.

On this day in 1887, the U.S. executed four anarchists imprisoned after the Haymarket Affair. Before his death, August Spies shouted "The time will come when our silence will be more powerful than the voices you strangle today."
