On this day in 1964, eighteen year old Scottish anarchist Stuart Christie was arrested while carrying explosives he intended to use to assassinate the Spanish fascist Francisco Franco.
Watts Riots (1965)Aug 11th, 1965
On this day in 1965, the Watts Riots began in Los Angeles after police beat a black family whose son they had pulled over. Until 1992, the uprising was the largest in city history, with 3,438 arrests and $40 million in property damage.
